Meet Jake

Who knew there were so many life lessons to learn from falling down mountains?

The mountains have a way of drawing you in, entrancing you with their beauty, and demanding your respect.

For me, they provide a place to experiment with something new. To practice fundamental life skills in a rich demanding environment. To grow creativity and confidence in trying the things we see as outside the box. They push us to achieve goals we never thought possible.

The mountains and gravity sports have an intrinsic relationship that requires work, dedication and drive to nurture.

Anyone can jump on a chairlift, strap on some equipment and fall down the mountain. To do it in control, with some style, takes a little more effort.

In the years spent developing peoples’ ability to gracefully fall down mountains, I’ve discovered that many of the same things that help someone make their firsts turns, or jump off a cliff and ride away grinning, can be applied to both life and business to cultivate success and happiness.

For almost two decades I’ve dedicated my time to pushing my coaching skills to their limits.

Not only achieving the highest level of certification in snowboarding and mountain biking, but becoming an active member of the elite Technical Teams in both associations, something done by only two other people in history.

While helping define the standard of coaching in these industries, the next goal was to become a Big Mountain Ski Guide working in Whistler Blackcomb, the greatest mountains in the world. Having spent over ten years working with Extremely Canadian has given me the opportunity to explore all the lessons these incredible mountains have to teach us, regardless of how we choose to navigate our way down them.

My Passion is the Mountains.

Their ability to facilitate flow by forcing us to be present. To challenge us. To help us seek out novelty and build creativity. They are the crucible that forges resilience in the face of extreme adversity.

This is what lead me to become a certified Performance Neuroscience Coach with the Flow Research Collective, the world's leading flow state research organization.

This rare combination of experience, training and skills have allowed me to bridge the gap between mountain performance and business excellence through the science of flow states.

For the past decade, I have had the privilege of working with elite athletes, industry professionals, and high-performing executives who seek not just technical improvement, but transformative experiences that transfer directly to their most important work.

In everything I’ve learned, Flow was the key.

Let see what you can do with it.

As a Course Conductor for both CASI and GSMBC, Jake doesn't just teach riders-he trains and certifies the instructors who become the industry's leaders. This rare position requires demonstrating flawless technical execution while simultaneously developing the assessment frameworks that maintain the integrity of professional certification.

His role on the National Technical Team places him among a select group responsible for developing the methodologies and progression systems used throughout Canada. This work directly influences how thousands of instructors approach skill development and coaching psychology globally.

Most significantly, as a Technical Team Member for multiple international organizations, Jake actively shapes the future direction of professional instruction-contributing to curriculum development, assessment protocols, and the integration of emerging science into coaching methodologies.

"The difference is profound. Most coaches follow established standards. Jake is invited to define those standards. This same approach, identifying optimal frameworks rather than following conventional wisdom, informs everything about our performance coaching methodology."
